Searching for Inspiration

For a solid year I had this grand plan to move from Toronto to Vancouver. I thought a change of scenery would solve all my problems (feelings of stagnation in my business and a lack of inspiration in my personal work). The bottom line is I thought moving would make me happy. I’ve since realized that happiness is not necessarily tied to a particular place or to things. Happiness really does come from within, as cliche as it may sound. There is no running away from your problems, as I’m sure you know. Travelling to new places certainly helps with the feelings of boredom and stagnation, …

Custom usb drives

For a long time I’ve wanted to get my act together in terms of delivering a well manicured final package. We all know that CDs and DVDs are a thing of the past (who even has a drive these days?) and when it comes to delivering large bodies of work ‘Wetransfer’ won’t always cut it (you can’t exactly deliver a wedding package via an online web transfer service). I’ve looked into different companies who offer creative USB drives and custom designs, but they’ve always been way too expensive for what they are, and furthermore, it’s near impossible to get any kind of customer …

Day 2 – New Photo Series

I need to get something off my chest. This was awful. AWFUL! I’m still queazy. I never ever EVER want to be this close to a cow heart, or any kind of raw heart for that matter, EVER again. It is amazing how many things smell like a raw bloodied heart after you’ve had a gagging episode. Seriously, THE most sickly smell I have ever had the displeasure of experiencing. It made me question this whole project. But fear not! I will persevere!

Day 1 – BTS New Photo Series

Today was Day 1 of working on a new photo series. Fucking finally am I right?! It’s my new years resolution to swear more. Does that make it okay? I think it does. So I made some kick ass antlers today. They work great… when you’re death gripping them at the base of the head band with your finger tips. I’ll need to reinforce them tomorrow. I managed to balance them in place on my head for a few shots but it defeats the purpose of having hands free antlers if I can’t be mobile enough to show any other emotion …

Creating Light – Creative Portraiture

I’m lucky enough to have some down time for the next few months (woohoo!) which allows me the luxury of revisiting past work and trying new ways of post processing. I’ll be sharing my techniques here in an effort to be more creatively active this year. Hey that kinda rhymed! Okay focus… So when I created the above images I didn’t intend to make a blog post, thus, I did not save my work accordingly. I will however recreate the same technique, just in a different pattern to make it more interesting for me. Or perhaps in a different color. I haven’t …

Jordan & Katie’s Wedding

Jordan and Katie quickly became one of my favourite couples to work with. It was evident from the first hour of their engagement shoot that the wedding day would be a breeze.

Ashlea & Brendon

As with most wedding couples I feature on my blog our first meeting began with an engagement session. I can’t stress enough how important those are. We first met up at the Grenadier Café in High Park and quickly jumped into the shoot.

Julia & Jordan

We started and ended the day at my all time favourite venue, South Pond Farms. I can’t sing their praises enough. The food is always delicious, like a home cooked meal, and the interior styling always perfectly imperfect, with its unique plates and teacups and wooden chairs.

Anna & Vlad

A stunning couple ties the knot in Ruthann Park. Enjoy this exclusive look at a start to finish wedding photographed by Toronto Photographer Vanessa Paxton.
